Biking is the answer to my midlife crisis. Some men go for the sports car, others might wander, I took up fitness.
Take a look around. Many men in their 40's and above have this extra pouch flowing over and hiding any belt they might have. At 6', I was headed right into size 40 pants, and my belt too was starting to dissapear.
1) I was Out of Shape
2) I was no longer fit
3) My Family has a history heart problems
4) I was tired - out of energy at end of day
5) Son helped push (encourage) me into riding as well as friends from work
6) Takes 10 minutes to drive to work by car, 15 by bike. For an extra 10 minutes a day, I get 30 minutes of great exercise!
7) The bikes/gear are cool!
8) The scenery around Santa Barbara is incredible!
9) The weather is moderate to excellent all year.
10) Stamina, it took the better part of a year, but I have it now.
11) Tired of maintaining the car. I didn't get rid of my commuter car, but I only put about 10 miles a month on it.
